Kirreway Rialto
Purchased as a foal, Rialto has been instrumental in the development and success of Cheraton Stud and has proven to lead the way in the development of the true show hunter ponies and galloways across Australia. Rialto is a Welsh B stallion who grew to 14h.
Rialto surpassed all expectations and achieved so much as a show horse, sire and member of our family. He demonstrated his versatility in being awarded many championships and supreme championships in hand, under saddle and in dressage.
A wonderful opportunity came in 1996, for Rialto to perform in open company, where he won Champion ridden Australian Saddle Pony at the Royal Melbourne show (against mares, geldings and other stallions). He defeated approximately 45 in the height class and approximately 77 entered for the overall award. This was to be his final class before retiring.
Rialto was a pleasure to show and handle, as well as having a potent strike rate for successful progeny. As a sire, Rialto has passed on his talent, extravagant movement and qualities to his progeny. In 2007, he had the equal-highest representation of progeny at the Grand National Horse of the Year show.
Rialto retired from breeding and resides in Western Australia with Vicky and George Lilly, who treat him like an absolute king. He will always have a special place in our hearts. His influence on our stud program is immerasurable.
Despite only breeding a small number of stock at Cheraton Stud, Rialto’s progeny have led the way in proving what a quality saddle horse should be able to achieve. Cheraton Stud retained a number of his daughters, who have proven to be strong foundation mares for our future. The three mares include Cheraton Wildflower (dam of the national champion Cheraton Cool Waters and Royal Supreme Champion and resident sire Cheraton Blue Label), Cheraton Pantomime (dam of the state champions Cheraton Chandon, Burlesque and Art Deco) and Cheraton Royal Symphony (dam of Cheraton Primadonna and Caesar).
